SiE Books
A unique series, for pre-and emerging readers, featuring children of color protagonists who use science to solve everyday challenges. Children explore deep science concepts through relatable stories and step-by-step illustrations for hands-on experiments.
Over 20,000 free books and science kits have been distributed to children growing up in low-income families.

Our goal is to reach an additional 20,000 students by the end of this year!
Thanks to our generous donors, we’re almost halfway there. Donate today to ensure children in our community see themselves as scientists and engineers.
Bring SiE Books to your students.
SiE Books class sets can enhance existing curriculum or kick-start new STEM education initiatives. Created by scientists and science educators, and aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), SiE Books can be used in the classroom, or in after-school programs.
SiE Books adult companions serve as a bridge between home and school. Send the completed kits and companion books home with your students to engage their families in hands-on science and engineering.
SiE Books class sets include —
One educator guide that includes: a lesson agenda, relevant next-gen science standards, vocabulary, and extension activities.
25 SiE student books that feature diverse protagonists and guide students through an illustrated story paired with a hands-on science lesson.
25 SiE adult companion books for family engagement after or during the activity.
All the materials needed and prepared for 25 students to participate.
Whether you're a teacher, informal educator, large district, or after-school club - you can make the STEM connection with SiE Books.
Family engagement is a crucial part of early learning.
Each unique SiE Book includes an adult companion guide with science background and thought-provoking questions (and answers) to stimulate conversations and show parents how they can encourage curiosity and support interest in science.
Children learn that we can think like scientists and be scientists daily with what we have around us! SiE Books can be purchased in bundles by grade level, as class sets, or individually.
For each book purchased, we donate one to a child whose family cannot afford it.
Thank you to our dedicated supporters for making SiE Books possible.
All of our kits are assembled by volunteers! We’re grateful to all of them, and in particular to the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto, employees of Rainin, and employees of KLA.
