Jennifer Urmson
Director of Curriculum
Jennifer Urmson believes that it is a joy and a privilege to bring the excitement of hands-on learning to students.
She started her career as a school-based Occupational Therapist in Pennsylvania.
After having children, she continued her involvement in elementary education as a volunteer. She has led science and garden-based learning activities at her children’s school, assisted in the development of a video arts curriculum, worked to create an after-school enrichment program with childcare at the school, and coordinated the scholarship program for the classes. She has been a docent for Living Classroom and a tutor for Reading Partners in her local school district.
Jennifer was also involved in the program design of the inaugural season of Camp Imagineerz. She is particularly interested in increasing opportunities for underserved students in the community. Jennifer earned her B.Sc. and Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation, Occupational Therapy from the University of Manitoba.
Jennifer was thrilled to join Science is Elementary in 2016. Seeing students' curiosity and excitement to explore science concepts makes teaching with Science is Elementary one of the most rewarding jobs she has held.
