What is your professional background ?

I am currently a home-manager/homemaker/housewife. I have a valuable professional background in the field of biotechnology. I have a Master's degree, which has given me advanced knowledge and expertise. I also have experience conducting research and analyzing data. I am skilled in working in laboratories and performing experiments.

Do you have a favorite memory or activity from a Science is Elementary lesson?

I have a few activities to share from my experience in different grades (K, 1st, and 2nd). Making a kazoo (a musical instrument) with ice-cream sticks and rubber bands, magnets, and engineering structures (especially building the structure using marshmallows and spaghetti), making colloids, and many more. All the experiments are fun and engaging.

What value do you think Science is Elementary brings to the classroom?

Science is Elementary brings value to the classroom by making science fun, promoting critical thinking, connecting to the real world, encouraging teamwork, and providing equal learning opportunities for all students.

Did volunteering with SiE in your son's class affect your use of science activities or discussions at home?

Volunteering with SiE in my son's class positively affected how I incorporated science activities and discussions at home. It inspired me to find fun and engaging ways to explore scientific concepts with my son. I started using more hands-on experiments and encouraged him to ask questions and think critically about the world around us. It made science a regular part of our conversations and helped foster his curiosity and love for learning.
